Tanzania at a glance

Local Guide · Reviewed October 2026

Why Tanzania matters for brokers

Tanzania's trading community has grown quickly, led by young, mobile-first traders, active social-media trading groups and introducing brokers. Almost everything runs on mobile money, so fast M-Pesa, Airtel Money and Mixx by Yas deposits and withdrawals can make or break a broker's reputation.

There is not yet a dedicated licence for online retail forex brokers in Tanzania. The Bank of Tanzania has said it is studying the area, and the CMSA regulates capital-markets intermediaries. Most groups therefore serve Tanzanian clients from a licence elsewhere in the region or offshore, working through local introducing brokers.
